Work-Week Makeup: How to Dazzle at Your Desk

By Tayler Bartman

Weekday mornings can drag enough as it is, but you don’t have to let your makeup routine fall by the wayside as well.  With a few fresh ideas you can add some excitement back into your bland work-week beauty regimen, in a way that still says “professional” – but with a bit more “pretty” packed in!

Kick any bland eye shadow up a few notches with cream shadows. For all of our corporate girls in a more formal work setting, a neutral eye shadow palette will be the most appropriate for you, but that doesn’t mean you can’t add a few hints of color with a cream shadow in bronze.

Amanda LOVES Giorgio Armani Eyes To Kill Intense Eye Shadows in number 6, “Khaki Pulse,” which adds a hint of shimmer and a unique bronze sheen.

Pack a pucker punch.During the day, use a gloss or stain on the lips.  Nars has some great lip lacquers which are a unique formula between a gloss and a lipstick, which provides for longer wear and comes in fun shades likeHot Wired, a gorgeous fuchsia that will make you look vibrant without looking too cool for corporate.

Dazzle… even at your desk. While body shimmer may not be appropriate for the office (or anywhere other than a costume party for that matter), don’t be afraid to use luminizers on your face to help play up your facial features. Combined with blush, you’ll be able to highlight your favorites features subtly and gorgeously. Nars Multiples cream-based makeup stick in Luxor and G-Spot ($39 each at sephora.com) allow for easy blending to create an all over glow, perfect for dazzling at your desk (and taking you to diva for dinner too!).

Boldly line. If you are in a more creative industry, you may have more room to experiment with your makeup, in which case colored eyeliner is the way to go! It’s perfect for daytime because it’s not as dramatic as black and adds a bit more personality to your makeup routine. Not sure where to begin? Visit your local make-up counter and experiment!
